Where to go when you visit Lebanon - Site 15 "Qobayat"

And here is a new entry to the Visit Lebanon series. This time, I will be taking you to a village in North Lebanon, in the mountains called Qobayat (official website - but very ugly one - argh).

I've had a friend since we were 10 who used to tell me about it, all I remember was that it's very far (almost 3 hours from Beirut) and that he's obsessed with it. So, a couple of weeks ago, a group of friends decided to go spend a weekend there, I was a bit reluctant at first, but then I decided to jump that wagon. And boy did I not regret it :)

I dub Qobayat to be the most beautiful village in Lebanon. If I ever come back to Lebanon, I will make sure to get myself a house there and go away for the weekends, or maybe retire there or something. I did not think such beauty and green scenery existed in Lebanon. I am glad I made that trip so I can leave Lebanon having more good memories.

There are several things you can do in the village, visiting convents and churches, an animal museum, food (Tannour Bread anyone?) but most importantly there is the peace and quiet and the beauty to enjoy. We stayed in an Auberge called "Graneroverde", this is their website (also needs a revamp). So basically the bungalow costs up to 150,000LL (100USD) per night, but can fit 4 to 5 people, so pretty affordable.

Yes it's far, but totally worth every lira and second. For more photos, check out the album on From Beirut With Funk's facebook here.
