Road Trip: Barcelona to Cadaqués

Destination: Spain
Travel Companions: Maria, Nancy, Elie, Sandy
Duration: 5 days

Many times we visit Barcelona and stay in the city. Why not explore a little the outskirts of Barcelona by visiting one of the most beautiful cities in Catalonia, close to the home of Salvador Dalí where he spent many holidays. A place so beautiful that it pretty much inspired the muli talented and surrealist artist in so many different ways.

"The beautiful fishing village of Cadaqués is sometimes referred to as an island on the coast. That is because it is relatively protected from mass tourism by a long, winding road through the mountains of Cap de Creus."

My best Lebanese wines

By Céline Chami (Twitter) - My love story with wine started when my parents used to tour small grocery shops in Lebanon during the civil war and collect old, unsold wine bottles. I was always fascinated by the nobleness of wine and couldn’t wait to taste it and understand the mysteries behind it. Back in the day, there were only a few wineries in Lebanon that people knew of, but as the years went by, the number of wineries grew and we finally had a good variety of Lebanese wines to choose from.

From Lisbon to Pastel de Nata

Destination: Lisbon
Travel Companion: Solo
Duration: 4 days
Budget: 450$ (excl. Airfare)

I visited Portugal last July and wrote the first part to this series about Porto here. Most people land in Lisbon or stay in Lisbon for work reasons, but if you have extra 2 days, I highly recommend you dedicate them to Porto. It was my preferred city between the two. Having said that, there are still a ton of things that I found to be quite enjoyable about Lisbon, from the amazing Pastel de Nata dessert to it being central and well connected to almost anywhere in Portugal. Here's the run though!

The Must-do in Tbilisi

Destination: Georgia
Travel Companion: Solo
Duration: 2.5 days
Budget: 579$

We are always looking for weekend getaways that offer us a change of scenery, lifestyle and even weather. A trip to Tbilisi offers that. I went there by myself, so this city is completely solo travel friendly. It's also a very good winter destination if you're looking to ski.

Tbilisi - view from the top

Trip's total cost: this includes Flight + 3 nights accommodation + Activities + Food + Souvenirs = 2126 AED, which is equivalent to 579$. To be honest, people spend this over a weekend in Dubai between shopping, eating and clubbing.

From Kenya with Funk

By Stéphane Bazan (Facebook) - My story with Kenya started almost 20 years ago when my Mom decided to go on a plane from Lyon to Nairobi and never came back. She settled near the port city of Mombasa, on the Indian Ocean, in a small Digo tribe village called Magutu. She built a house and started to invite friends and family to spend a few days in what I consider to be one of the most beautiful places on Earth. The country, as big as France, has a great variety of landscapes, from the tropical coast to the rugged lands of Mount Kenya, from the eastern lakes to the rift valley. Kenya is also known for the most beautiful game reserves of the World, made popular by many Hollywood movies including “Out of Africa” or “The Constant Gardener”.

Welcome to Kenya

Visit Porto in 48 hours

Destination: Porto
Travel Companion: Solo
Duration: 2 days
Budget: 300$ (excl. Airfare)

If you're visiting Portugal soon and you're wondering what cities to visit and how to split your time, this is the read for you. Of course, people have different interests and are in different state of minds when they visit a place thus perceptions are subjective. My personal preference is Porto; it's small and cozy, and a lot can be done in 48 hours.  One thing for sure though, I wish I had even more time in Portugal to explore more of the country, it certainly is a beautiful one. You can check the Lisbon post here.

The alternative Paris you must meet

By Bechara Daccache (Instagram) - France is beautiful. Paris is beautiful. Everyone is fashionable there. French cuisine is definitely not overrated; thankfully the city is so beautiful to walk in and burn those delicious calories off. One of the most efficient things about Paris is its metro system, and if this wasn't enough for you, Uber makes it even much easier to move around. As for photography, Paris' night-scape is such a visually satisfying experience, specially when it's less crowded whilst all its monuments are lit; no wonder the Tour Eiffel is the most photographed landmark in the world.

However fear not! This post is not to recommend visiting the Eiffel tower or Notre-Dame for Paris, I am certain that by now everyone is familiar with all these, but there is so much more to Paris, therefore in this post, I am going to share my personal experience and the things I did that made and created special and enjoyable moments in Paris. Meet the alternative Paris.

Layover turned into a 5 hour exploration of Belgrade

With Air Serbia becoming more and more popular as an airline in general, and in particular from Beirut as it's one of the few airlines that links us to Europe for affordable prices, the layovers in Belgrade Airport in some cases are long, the airport is still small and limited in what it can offer. There was maybe 2 places where we can eat and few duty free shops. Our layover was over 7 hours, so we thought it would be worth going out and exploring the city. Only caveat here was that we left the airport around 7AM, given that the city center is barely 15 minutes away from the airport and costs around 16€, we got to the center quite early where the shops and restaurants were still closed.

Thanks for coming back for Part II, if you haven't seen Part I, it mostly covers places to stay, if you should stay in more than 1 resort, and easiest way to pack in such case.

Travel Companions: Weronika, Natalia
Duration: 7 days

In this entry, I will cover places to eat, things to do, places to visit, transportation and how to handle your money!

Question 6: What and where should we eat?
Answer: You have to try the different exotic fruits they had, I tried Durian (oh my god, never again, but our guide was in love with it). Mangosteen (my favorite, I hope you go there during its season). Snake skin (good as well, don't let the name scare you).

Travel in one second with those 15 Instagram accounts

Instagram feed is pretty much what you make of it, since I love travel, adventure and photography, I thought I would share my personal* favorite accounts (adventure seekers, world travelers and amazing photographers of mostly nature / city / street / wildlife) and the windows they open for us to see the world through their lens in one session. These are in no particular order.

@highsteph - Steph Davis is a climber, base jumper, wingsuit flyer. What I love about her, is how active and courageous she is. I would love to be a wingsuit flyer one day, for now, I settle for her beautiful photos.

@cristinamittermeier - Cristina Mittermeier is a photo journalist. What I love about her is her range in photography, which resonates with me a lot. From people, to landscape, to wild life to underwater photography. This woman shows you the world.

My 2015 compiled in a 128 seconds video!

You can't really fathom how much you travel until you try to compile videos that you took throughout a whole year and squeeze them into a 2 minutes video. It's definitely a trip down a memory lane, a great way to remember a whole year and the amazing and interesting times you've had with great people (or even alone sometimes). These trips are both for business and personal, but I try to make the best of it even when I am traveling for work.

Hope you enjoy the video! And please let me know if there is a destination that I've visited that you're keen to learn more about. I have shared many tips on several locations I've been in, so feel free to browse through the blog.

My 2015 compiled in a 128 seconds video!
The best way to remember a whole year of travel! Really excited to share this with you. Reach out if there is a destination that I've visited that you're interested in knowing more about. Cheers :)

Discover the cultural, traditional and artsy side of Bastakiya in Bur Dubai

I haven't been traveling much the past month, so I thought I would spend my weekends discovering Dubai and its surroundings. And I have to say, it has been super pleasant. Expect few posts on that, and this is the first in that series.

My friend was visiting Dubai so I decided to take the day off on Sunday and show her around. To my surprise, I ended up discovering Dubai along with her. We decided to go to Bastakiya (located in Bur Dubai). Now I know everyone has heard of it, but weirdly enough there's still quite a few people who haven't been there. Here are some some photos from the day, with a caption to describe it and why I recommend you visit it. And I highly recommend you do!

Top breakfast places in 6 amazing cities

Everybody knows that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Also if you're a bread lover like me, and coffee, and chocolate, and cheese and ham... You will want to read this!

The way I like to discover a city is by walking as much as I can, and I don't like having breakfast in a random place, I heavily rely on foursquare to find the right place. And since I like to explore streets and walk in non-busy areas, this usually leads me to discover small cozy places that outperform fancy restaurants.

Highly recommended because of these 3 main ingredients:

  1. You get the real feel of the city.
  2. You get to eat delicious bread and fuel properly for the day.
  3. You get to hang out in a cute / artsy / nice looking bakery / breakfast place.

Here are my favorite breakfast places around the world in alphabetical order:
