The 21st century thinker

There are many ways to be inspired, and many ways to feed our soul with thoughts and musings. One of them is to simply be with ourselves, on our own.

Yet nowadays, even when you are on your own, your iPad, laptop, or even smartphone with > 4" screen is with you. And that device right there is a window to the world full of opportunities, unlimited knowledge, various entertainment, blogging, sharing and interacting...

How alone with your thoughts are you these days?

  1. Those devices tend to do more distracting that "windowing to knowledge" in my experience, especially the social networks.. I like to think alone most of the time, and when I do I just shut down the world around me, put on some music, and start reading/writing..

  2. I've been thinking about this a lot recently as I've been forcing myself to spend more time doing "offline" things..It's funny what an addiction it becomes and how it makes it virtually impossible for you to be ok with simply being with yourself. I think that those of us who are especially active online need to make it a point to spend time offline..doing offline things..one of which is being by ourselves without any of those distractions! Good insight. :D

  3. Fadi, Danielle exactly. We all think sometimes that we need time alone. Okay great, but we find ourselves grabbing our laptop or connected phone and constantly checking into what's happening, reading, communicating with other. Making it a point to be offline.. who would've thought
