So I was over at Girl Geek Camp organized by Take back the tech, Nasawiya initiative. All I can say is, I am very thankful that Nadine Moawad contacted me to be one of the trainers, I am lucky to have been part of this.
And let me tell you why I am lucky to have been one of the trainers:
- I have given this blogging presentation several times, but this time was the most challenging, because the 15 girls aged between 14 and 17, have asked me the toughest and most interesting questions so far!
- Because I like sharing what I know, and I don't think there would have been a better audience than these interested girls!
Let me tell you about the girls:
They're curious, they're smart, they have a lot of potential, they're ambitious, and it makes me smile to see teenagers, female teenagers who long for knowledge and learning DURING SUMMER! And not just any knowledge, but specially about technowledge (I just made that up, but I think it's a great word no?)
Let me tell you about the camp, the program and the trainers:
First of all you can meet all the camp trainers here and check out the full program here. As you can see, the program is so diverse, so rich, so interesting, I wished this camp happened back when I was a teenager (like decades ago :P). It's an amazing program, from photography, to filming, programming, internet, illustration, smartphone differences, net freedoms, animation, citizen journalism, networking & hardware, gaming, etc... the list goes on! I mean seriously, look at it, amazing no?
So girl geekettes, I really really recommend that you attend the second girl geek camp taking place this September. People tell your sisters, cousins, friends daughters, nieces... tell them about this camp, they will leave with so much new learnings, and wouldn't it be amazing to hear a 16 year old tell you the difference between HTC Sensations and iPhone, or have her own blog exposing her own talent (whatever that is), know what exposure and ISO in Photography is etc..?
This girl will be distinguished among her friends next school year! This girl will have knowledge, and knowledge is? Power!
Great job Nasawiya, keep up the amazing work.
